Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu has appointed Daud Vicary Abdullah as the new global leader of its Islamic Finance Industry group.

Mr Vicary Abdullah, who has over 35 years of experience of working in the finance and consulting industry, will be responsible for the overall strategy of the group in his new position at the tax jobs provider.

He will also issue guidance to Deloitte member firms on corporations, financial institution and governments that are related to Islamic finance and observed that the industry is "rapidly expanding".

"[This] presents opportunities for companies in various businesses around the world," he stated, adding that Deloitte's member firms have "formidable experience" in a wide variety of issues relating to Islamic finance.

Mr Vicary Abdullah's appointment is the second to be announced by the Big Four firm this week, as it recently revealed that Nick Main has been selected as its new global managing partner for climate change and sustainability.
