Emerging markets 'offer expansion possibilities'

20/04/2009 Emerging markets 'offer expansion possibilities'UK companies that are looking to expand overseas should consider emerging markets in places such as Chile, China and Poland, a new PricewaterhouseCoopers report has concluded.

The Big Four firm's EM 20 Index has found that these countries, along with Bulgaria, Malaysia and Slovakia, offer economic conditions that could encourage long-term investment prospects.

Those in high-level audit jobs that are investigating options for expansion may be interested in the new index, which has been re-evaluated in order to take into account that changing economic activity brought on by the global recession.

"Even during these times of global financial crisis, there are still emerging markets that will appeal to UK companies," PwC's Alec Jones stated.

However, he urged businesses considering developing operations outside of the UK to implement a "robust" selection process to help them decide on a destination.

In related news, accountancy firm Menzies recently noted that start-up businesses are defying the economic downturn, with a growing number being established despite the difficult financial conditions.ADNFCR-1739-ID-19129029-ADNFCR
