International employee movement 'to be standard practice'

12/04/2010 International employee movement 'to be standard...International movement of staff will become a regular activity in the future, it has been claimed.

A report conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that the number of people on non-domestic assignments has increased by 25 per cent in the last ten years, with this figure expected to grow by a further 50 per cent by 2020.

It is all due to the globally-connected nature of technology and trade, it noted, which will see an increase in the number of commuter projects.

Carol Stubbings, international mobility partner at the company, said: "As companies venture into underdeveloped locations, organisations and governments would benefit from sustainable co-investment in the infrastructure needed for individuals to live and do work comfortably."

She added that the best way to encourage this type of growth is to allow for "fluid" movement to take place.

It was recently reported by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG Report on Jobs that vacancies are growing at their fastest rate for two-and-a-half years.
