KPMG has appointed Anneli Collins to the role of head of tax policy in the UK.

Her role will see Ms Collins focus on forging and improving the company's relationships with HM Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs, as well as a number of key industry bodies.

Ms Collins said: "Tax clearly has a huge role to play as the UK emerges from recession and the public finances are rebuilt."

And she added that in her new role she will be expected to ensure that the group is fully engaged in debates over tax policy.

Sue Bonney, head of tax at KPMG Europe, stated the importance of tax policy could not be overlooked, as it is becoming an area that professional services firms will increasingly focus on due to legislative changes and the current economic situation

The organisation recently released the results of a survey, which revealed that 59 per cent of UK businesses questioned thought that financial risk was the biggest threat to them.
