Audit jobs provider KPMG has appointed a new head of its UK forensic practice.

Alex Plavsic, who has worked for KPMG for 18 years, has taken over from Adam Bates.

He said he was "honoured" to be appointed to the position.

His previous roles have involved corruption and bribery matters and he was also head of fraud investigations at the Big Four firm.

Mr Plavsic added that the practice was in great condition for the future and had grown well under Mr Bates.

"With the full scale of recession-related fraud and litigation yet to unfold, there is no doubt that forensic skills will be much in demand in the coming years," he remarked.

The UK practice has expanded from 250 employees in 2006 to 360 in 2009 and it is now making in excess of £80 million in revenue each year.

Last week, KPMG announced that it had appointed Rachel Campbell as the new global head of people, performance and culture.
