Nigel Layton has joined audit jobs provider KPMG Forensic as the director of its Corporate Intelligence team.

Mr Layton, who established investigations and security firm Quest in 1995, will oversee the 360 employees that make up the Big Four firm's department, which has recently seen an increase in demand for fraud investigation and forensic accounting services.

Revenue at KPMG Forensic - which has been one of the company's fastest-growing parts in recent years - totalled over £80 million in 2008 and Mr Layton said he is "delighted" to be joining the group.

"I look forward to working with KPMG's corporate intelligence and other forensic colleagues to help grow the practice even further," he remarked.

Head of corporate intelligence for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Steven Haynes added that demand for corporate intelligence work is currently high, with the economic climate meaning business deals need to be researched more carefully than ever.

Earlier this month. Alex Plavsic succeeded Adam Bates as the head of KPMG Forensic.
