KPMG has been announced as the company that will help advise the city of Leeds over its investment decision making.

It comes after the government announced that the region will be taking part in a pilot programme that will see a premium placed on regionalised judgements on issues such as transport, housing, skills and innovation.

"This pioneering partnership stands to benefit the area through integrated, local decision-making in some key spending areas," according to Iain Moffatt, senior partner at KPMG in Leeds.

As part of the deal, the organisation will give support over issues including, structure, remit and delivery.

Mr Moffat stated that he is confident the link-up will "prove invaluable in maximising the potential impact of the initiative".

The firm recently revealed, in conjunction with the British Retail Consortium, that sales values of goods rose by 2.2 per cent year-on-year in February when compared to the same month in 2009.
