Big Four accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has announced the appointment of Mohammad Khan as its new Islamic finance leader.

The company noted that Mr Khan will take up the position with immediate effect having taken over from partner Mohammed Amin following the latter's retirement.

Commenting on the selection process, UK financial services leader at the firm Chris Jones said the candidate was chosen because of his previous talents in this area.

Mr Jones remarked: "Mohammad's extensive experience of advising clients on Islamic finance matters will allow him to bring the benefits directly to our UK financial services clients."

According to PwC, Mr Khan has developed a wide range of expertise in Islamic financial matters during his 11 years with the organisation and is particularly well versed in insurance issues.

KPMG also announced a high-profile appointment recently, with Michelle Quest being revealed as the enterprise's UK head of people last month.
