A current shortage of skills may limit London's ability to recovery from the recession, a new report has concluded.

A survey conducted by the Confederation of British Industry and KPMG has found that four in ten of the businesses based in the capital are struggling to find employees with the necessary abilities, something that may interest those seeking London tax jobs.

Chairman of KPMG in the capital Richard Reid explained that the success of London is increasingly reliant on its "ability to function as a highly skilled, hi-tech economy".

"Businesses ? must have access to staff equipped with both basic and more advanced skills," he remarked, adding that it is "inevitable" that some firms will reduce spending on training during the present economic climate.

Earlier this month, executives in the insurance sector revealed they are optimistic about the opportunities for growth within the market in a survey carried out by KPMG and the Economist Intelligence Unit.
