The likelihood of more tax jobs becoming available in the coming months could be more positive than has been the case for some time.

Recruitment and Employment Confederation director of external affairs Tom Hadley explains that he has seen agencies and employers alike see greater demand for employees, along with "a definite increase" in the need for permanent staff appointments.

This could be welcome news for candidates who have been finding difficulty in securing tax jobs in recent months.

Mr Hadley says: "There are some modest signs of recovery and genuine recruitment activity happening out there."

However, he adds that other effects may be making the number of available jobs seem greater than is actually the case.

That is because more people are moving between jobs at present - creating vacancies but also increasing the number of applicants by the same number.

"Are we just starting to see the jobs market unblock itself?" Mr Hadley asks.
