Audit jobs provider PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has said that there has been a renewal of confidence in the technology mergers and acquisitions (M&A) industry.

According to research by the Big Four professional services firm, the amount of planned deals and activity levels are rising after the depressed figures from 2009 begin to pick up again.

The number of deals was down 60 per cent in 2009, compared the previous year, and revenue was also reduced from ?6.8 billion (£5.92 billion) to ?3.3 billion in the same time period.

Andy Morgan, partner at PwC, explained: "The right conditions appear to be in place to mean a tipping point into the next stage of the deal cycle and local confidence is starting to return,"

KPMG's Global M&A Predictor recently predicted that the next 12 months will be a better year than 2009 for those in audit jobs in the M&A industry, with a projected seven per cent increase on last year's revenue figures.
